Describes the use of a Rapid Intervention Crew (RIC) at structure fires. Reviewed are NFPA 1407 standards and training requirements necessary for a firefighter to participate on a RIC. Also described are the common tools that a RIC uses, how to stage tools on scene, and preparedness concepts such as the 360 survey and softening a building. MAYDAY situations are defined as well as the procedures for RIC activation, radio communications and rescue considerations.
