Describes MAYDAY activation and the search and rescue procedures a RIC will follow. Skills include declaring a MAYDAY and firefighter self-rescue techniques such as wall breaching and the long lug out escape method. Methods of RIC air management are described as well as the use of RIC search tools such as thermal imaging cameras. Demonstrations include techniques for searching using webbing and the rope assisted search procedure (RASP) and search and tethering techniques using hoselines. Different RIC air delivery techniques are presented for use on a downed-firefighter such as the use of the Universal Air Connection and the Emergency Breathing Safety System.
